Our Spicy Skinny Margarita

Our Spicy Skinny Margarita

Oh so you’re thirsty, huh? Same! Tbh, Daniel made this recipe up because others we’ve found were way too sweet or complicated. A good drink should be two things — as minimal ingredients as possible & strong without tasting strong. (That’s where it gets dangerous lol.) Just one of these & I’m already feeling it. This recipe makes enough for two big margaritas, but you could split it up for 3 or even 4 people. But I’m all for a strong, cold drink like this in the summer (…who’s kidding, really any season)! Oh & btw if you pay close attention to the photo below you’ll see the spice jar says “Bloody Mary mix.” We ran out of Tajin — it was late & neither of us wanted to go out to get another container of it so I improvised & shockingly it was actually so good. Smoky & smooth!

Ingredients:

Cocktail Shaker (we just got this one from our registry & are OBSESSED.)

4 ounces Tequila (we prefer Espolon most)

3 plump limes (small dried out ones are gonna do you no good)

1 TBSP honey (or agave)

1/4 Jalapeno chopped finely (this is preference — if you want it spicier, chop more!)

1/4 Jalapeño sliced half an inch thick

Sparkling water

Tajin Spice

Steps:

Fun fact, you should load up your shaker with ingredients in the order of least expensive to most expensive. Meaning liquor goes in last, always!

  • Rim the chilled glasses with a little lime juice (but save the lime so you can juice it for the drink!)

  • Turn glasses upside down and twist them left & right in Tajin to cover the rim

  • Muddle the jalapeños finely chopped pieces as best you can

  • Juice 2 limes into the shaker (we use this citrus press & no others compare, imo)

  • Add the honey & muddled jalapeños

  • Shake just those 3 ingredients for 30-45 seconds to get them “fluid”

  • Add the tequila

  • Shake again reallllllly well

  • Add 1 or 2 big ice cubes to each glass

  • Pour mixture carefully into each glass

  • Top with a little sparkling water (again this is preference)

  • Slice the third lime into wedges to garnish glass

  • Top the drink with sliced jalapeños (let them float)

  • ENJOY!! (And drink responsibly!)

P.S. You better tag me if you make this!!!
